Refund Policy

Effective Date: [TO BE FILLED] Last Updated: 2026-07-21

This Refund Policy explains how much of a client's payment is refunded, and how much (if anything) a worker is paid, depending on when and by whom a job is cancelled. It works together with our Cancellation Policy, which explains the process for requesting a cancellation — this document explains the money.

1. How the commission works (applies to every completed job)

When a job is completed, WorkQuora deducts a platform fee of 10% of the gross job value, plus GST of 18% on that fee (not on the full job value) — a total deduction equal to 11.8% of the gross job value. The worker receives the remainder.

Worked example — a ₹1,000 job:

Item Amount
Gross job value ₹1,000.00
Platform fee (10%) ₹100.00
GST on platform fee (18% of ₹100) ₹18.00
Total deduction ₹118.00
Net payout to worker ₹882.00

This commission only applies when a job is completed — it does not apply to cancellations, which are governed by the refund table below.

2. Refund and payout by cancellation scenario

The table below is WorkQuora's refund and payout policy based on the stage a job had reached when it was cancelled.

Scenario Client refund Worker payout
Worker has not yet accepted the job 100% — (no payout; work never began)
Job accepted, but worker had not yet left for the location 100% 0%
Worker had reached the client's location 98% 2%
Job cancelled midway through the work 50% 50%
Worker cancels the job themselves 100% 0%

No commission is charged on a refunded or cancelled job — the percentages above apply to the gross amount the client paid, with no platform fee or GST deducted from a refund.

3. Repeated worker cancellations

A worker who cancels jobs repeatedly is subject to a penalty under WorkQuora's policy, up to and including account suspension. WorkQuora reviews cancellation patterns and applies this at its discretion, considering the circumstances of each cancellation. (See our Compliance Report for the current implementation status of automated enforcement of this rule.)

4. Important note on how this policy is currently administered

This refund schedule is WorkQuora's official, binding policy. As of this version, the WorkQuora app automates a subset of cancellation outcomes and settles others manually through our support team, rather than every row of the table above being fully automated end-to-end in the app at this time. Regardless of whether a given cancellation is settled automatically or manually, the outcome you receive will be calculated according to this table — this section exists to set an accurate expectation about how the refund is processed today, not to change what you are owed. If you believe a cancellation was not settled according to this table, contact us through our Grievance Redressal Policy.

5. How refunds are paid

Refunds are credited to the client's WorkQuora wallet, from which they can be withdrawn or used to fund a future job, consistent with how job payments are held in escrow via Razorpay. Processing time depends on our payment gateway partner and, for bank withdrawal, the receiving bank.

6. Disputed cancellations

If a client and worker disagree about which scenario in Section 2 applies (for example, whether the worker had actually reached the location), either party may raise a dispute as described in our Terms & Conditions and Cancellation Policy. WorkQuora will review available evidence (including in-app location and chat records where relevant) to determine the applicable outcome.

7. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Refund Policy from time to time, including the commission rate, with notice to users. The rate and refund schedule in effect at the time a job is cancelled or completed is the one that applies to that job.
